The Autoresponder's Role In Internet Marketing

If you're new to internet marketing you probably do not have your own autoresponder service yet and may not even plan to get one. This could be for financial reasons or perhaps you believe you don't need to have one to be successful. You can, have some limited success without one, but to ignore this important software can cost you hundreds to thousands of dollars for each day you don't impliment one on a successful campaign.

What an autoresponder basically is is a program that will email someone subscribed to it automatically with a pre-set message. Sequential autoresponders will keep mailing a person who subscribes over any length of time and even at intervals of your choosing. Anyone subscribing to one of your sequential sequences will receive the first email while someone else on a different place in your sequence will receive another. They're a tremendous time saver as they work for you, sending out your emails on time, every time, at all hours of the day.

So, if they can do all this, where is their role in the big picture?

Well, that depends on how you intend to use them. You could use them to maximize Adsense by sending your subscribers to pages optimized with high paying keywords. They give you the important chance to market your own product or affiliate product to your prospects again and again without you lifting a finger. You can also filter some subscribers onto another list you want them to be on, at a certain stage in your sequence, to direct them to specific back end products or services.

Autoresponders are a pivotal part of the marketing machine that makes it run smoothly every step of the way. They keep you in your list's mind due to the repeated mailings and make it easy to see who on your list would be best to sell to again. Many autoresponder services will let you split test the open, click through, and sign-up rates of your autoresponder allowing you to get the most mileage out of the least mailings.

There is debate in the internet marketing community between the two biggest players as to which autoresponder service is best. Some side with Aweber because of it's high deliverability. The other big name is GetResponse which a lot of internet marketers swear by as well. Some sites that allow hosting and registering of domains have their own autoresponders, as well as certain one you can install on your computer or on your own server. This is not recommended though because the professional services will be better equipped to handle the potential server stress needed to run a lot of, or a long sequence of, autoresponders. When you can afford one, you should definitely get an autoresponder to help grow your business.
